How We Work

Our Dogs

are rescued from a variety of situations

These situations include dogs residing in high-kill shelters, surrendered by their owner, found as strays, involved in legal cases, or sold by backyard breeders. Each dog that is rescued by ASCZ is fully vetted, spayed/neutered, microchipped, evaluated and enjoying the comforts of a foster home while they await adoption. ASCZ is run solely on foster homes; we do not own a shelter. This provides many benefits to both dogs and humans.

The Rescue

evaluates dogs in a home environment

This allows a better understanding of their temperament and therefore, better placement. ASCZ is able to assess the dog’s compatibility with people and animals while also determining if special needs are present. We believe a successful placement begins with information gathering. This allows ASCZ to make the best possible suggestions to approved applicants as they search for their forever companion and we search on behalf of our dogs.

ASCZ can adopt to residents in the following states: Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Maryland, Oklahoma and Texas.
